Hats and Glasses

I don’t know where you may find yourself, but if you’re anywhere near Northern Alberta, you are wondering where winter went. It’s right now a balmy 0 degrees celsius outside here in Edmonton- when the seasonal temperature is about -30?? Well, I was not prepared for this short winter, to be honest. I had not yet had a chance to wear all my winter gear. Don’t get me wrong- I don’t love -30, but my winter ensembles of hats and mitts and related parephenalia haven’t had enough wear this season. *Sigh* Oh well. I’ll live vicariously through others….

Mandy Moore is pretty in winter gear in Paris with beau Zach Braff. Love the grey pea coat and the matching scarf and hat. I’m not a huge fan of the skinny jeans tucked into boots, but Mandy pulls is off rather well. I think the black boots are a key element to not looking uber-silly in following this trend.

Liz McLarnon might be a little behind the times in still wearing the Uggs- but for anyone who argues against them… I haven’t found anything comfier than a good ol’ pair of Uggs. Granted, there are some really cute new Uggs rather than these plain classics… Ok, let’s ignore her boots and look at the great pink co-ordination Liz pulls off: the pink coat, the pink scarf and my personal fave, the matching pink belt.

As I have been driving a lot lately, and there’s virtually no sign of winter on the roads, I’ve found that there is a huge need for a good pair of shades. There are lots of styles and options out there- here are some looks.

Um… I’ll come right out and say I’m not a fan of Posh Spice (aka Victoria Beckham) but she is one of few people who have the “je ne sais quoi” to pull off these mothers. Huge glasses are just like Uggs, a little passe, so I’d think twice about it, but I’m including it here because if you’re looking for a pair of designer glasses, you’ll definitely see the big frames.

Ah, Denise Richards. You were way too pretty to marry Charlie Sheen to start with.(as much as I love Two and A Half Men…) But she has the sunglasses that I am currently a little obsessed with: the Chanel glasses. They have the huge arms that are supposed to look quilted with the CC logo on the sides. Much love to Chanel. You know what? Go all out and get the matching bag too. Get it for a steal on sites such as Ioffer.

Dear “Anonymous”,
I agree that Uggs are just about the comfiest things you can possibly put your feet into… Except they lost a little prestige in my eyes when I saw a pair at Winners. That’s a bad sign for most “hot trends”, no?

I’m all for things, even if they’re not “trendy” if you love them. Uggs are right up there in my books.
:)
Love,
Miss A

I will have to do a retraction of my story on the Ugg “slight”. *lol*

OK- Uggs are still cool, they are probably going to be very cool for quite some time in the foreseeable future ;) (BTW- I do love love love the Ugg Uptowns, the ones from Oprah’s Favorite list this year?? I wrote a previous blog about them…. They are SO cute.)

I have a friend with the uptowns and she doesn’t think they were worth it…They look so cute with a skirt but not so hot with pants…each to their own though.
