The Crazy Circus of Britney Spears in Vancouver- Concert Review

You all know how excited I was about Britney’s concert. I’ve been counting down the days for weeks and I’m a huge fan. I convinced a bunch of girlfriends to come with me last night, so we got together last night and made our way to GM Place in Vancouver for the Britney Spears concert.

We showed up to the concert in excellent spirits, all looking forward to the show. The Pussycat Dolls, the opening act, were great. Nicole was actually singing, they interacted with the crowd and they played all their big songs.

Fast forward 20 or so minutes, and Perez’s face flashed on the screen, welcoming everyone to the Circus. Out comes Britney! Only, it looked like a ghost of what Britney used to be. Her dance moves were lackluster at best and she looked like she’d rather be anywhere but on the stage. She played her first 3 songs and then, as I’m sure you’ve heard, the show came to a roaring halt. Nothing happened for 40 minutes in total, and about 1/2 way through those 40 minutes, the announcer came on to announce that there was too much smoke in the building and it was not working for Ms. Spears and to please put out our cigarettes. Um… What? First of all, if there was any smoke, it was from the pyrotechnics and smoke machines used at the start of the concert. Secondly, Britney is a smoker. WTF? We knew that the smoke story was a “cover-up” as we were all sitting there, since they waited for 20 minutes before announcing the problem. Several sources have said that Britney got a rip in her tights and threw a fit and refused to come back on stage. This is definitely more believable, since we were sitting close enough that we could see down the “trap doors” and saw her sitting right near the stage and shaking her blonde hair around. If the smoke was so bad, get away from the stage woman!

After the 40 minutes, she came back out and seemed to be slightly more into the show. She picked it up and seemed to be more into it. The concert ended with a “Rock out with your cocks out, don’t smoke weed and peace out mother#%$@&%$”  See the video at Dlisted… She seriously said that. WTF?

All in all, I had a good time at the concert but that was due to the company I was with and the fact that I was essentially at a club playing Britney songs where I could sing along loudly and have no one look at me strangely- with some dancing going on. Britney didn’t sing at all- not even anything.

I actually feel bad for her, I don’t believe she wanted to do the show at all. I don’t really think she can make any decisions on her own and is being forced to do this. I can’t believe her dad thought this would be a good idea for his mentally fragile mother of two daughter- other than the cash she would rake in. She was not interested in anything, didn’t speak to the crowd and apparently booked it out of Vancouver, departing on a private jet at 11:30. She literally would have walked off stage and into a car to get her to the airport to have left at that time.
