When Is It Too Early?

Since it’s my first year as house-owner (instead of condo or townhouse owner, my previous titles) I am very excited about decorating for the holidays coming up, but I’m not really sure when it’s too early to start decorating for Halloween? Yes, this is something I wonder about.

I grew up in a house where my parents only let us put up a Christmas tree a couple of weeks before Christmas and it was taken down immediately the week after, so I’m concerned that I’m a little wonky with my decorating dates. What’s the proper etiquette- Wait until the neighbors do? Do as you please?

Oh, and for the record, I had a great childhood… Saving the Christmas tree decorating very late made it really special during those “magical” 3 weeks and we never got tired of it… I was just a drama queen who wanted to decorate for Christmas as soon as Halloween was over.

I’ll be completely truthful here…I’m obsessed with Christmas, and can’t stand to see the decorations put up and taken down within a matter of two weeks. Thus, and don’t make fun, I typically decorate for Christmas starting the day after Halloween. Yes, the Christmas decorations are pulled out on November 1 at my house! :)

I agree, Christmas IS a whole other ball game. I love the season too so on that I’ll vote December 1st

OK, so the verdict is Halloween on October 15th and Christmas December 1st? I can work with that….
