Since it’s my first year as house-owner (instead of condo or townhouse owner, my previous titles) I am very excited about decorating for the holidays coming up, but I’m not really sure when it’s too early to start decorating for Halloween? Yes, this is something I wonder about.
I grew up in a house where my parents only let us put up a Christmas tree a couple of weeks before Christmas and it was taken down immediately the week after, so I’m concerned that I’m a little wonky with my decorating dates. What’s the proper etiquette- Wait until the neighbors do? Do as you please?

Oh, and for the record, I had a great childhood… Saving the Christmas tree decorating very late made it really special during those “magical” 3 weeks and we never got tired of it… I was just a drama queen who wanted to decorate for Christmas as soon as Halloween was over.

Two weeks before Halloween at the earliest
i agree but christmas is a whole other ball game
I’ll be completely truthful here…I’m obsessed with Christmas, and can’t stand to see the decorations put up and taken down within a matter of two weeks. Thus, and don’t make fun, I typically decorate for Christmas starting the day after Halloween. Yes, the Christmas decorations are pulled out on November 1 at my house!
I agree, Christmas IS a whole other ball game. I love the season too so on that I’ll vote December 1st
OK, so the verdict is Halloween on October 15th and Christmas December 1st? I can work with that….
