Hunter Rainboots

I live in a pretty wet climate, and since my last pair of rain boots (aka the “Gumboots”) mysteriously showed up in my closet one day with a huge gash in them I’ve been on the hunt for a new pair. I live in such a rainy climate that having a pair that is more expensive than one would normally think a lot of money for a pair of rainboots isn’t as huge of a concern for me. I’m looking for a classic pair of boots that I can wear to work (since I still currently take the train, I have to walk to and from work and the train station) and also I can wear on the weekends. I love the boots with heels, but let’s face it… No one needs 3-5″ heels on their rainboots. Putting a huge heel on a pair of rubber boots doesn’t make them the equivalent of a regular pair of boots, which is how they are quite often seen.

So I’ve been trolling the internet looking for a pair. My criteria were cute, heels of 1 inch or less, classic color that would go with almost anything and under $200. And… I came up with pretty much just a plain Jane pair of Hunters that came in at 60 pounds.

I really like their reputation, and I also love that they are described as “… exud[ing] practicality and protection.” That sounds like me. In a game this weekend where people had to decide what present to give you called Gift Trap (sounds weird, but go with it, or read about it here) in one round, everyone gave me a British Title of Nobility. Maybe that was a sign that I should buy the Regency pair.

Totally on a tangent there, but I want to know if anyone has had other great boots? Are these the creme de la creme that they seem to be?
