I was given a gift certificate for my birthday for the Body Shop, and I was curious to revist the shop that I had purchased pretty much everything a 16-year old girl needed… Makeup, perfume and body products… But I thought I had graduated from the Body Shop until I had received this gift certificate.

I stepped into the store and immediately picked up a pair of “heated” fleece boots that have smelling sacks of cranberry in them, technical name “Merry Cranberry Heatable Feet Hugs“. I love love love them. They are like the warmest things I have ever had on my feet and while there are a couple of things I’d like to change about the boots (They’re too big for my feet and almost fall off when I try to walk up stairs) they rock my world. They’re also a steal at $26.
So the Body Shop could get some reconsideration from me. I still enjoy buying my basic beauty products (like bubble bath, shampoo, conditioner, etc.) from Shoppers so I collect the points- am up to something like $400 in free products now. Also, they have sales at the Body Shop now. Maybe it was that 16-year old me didn’t realize sales were awesome? I was loaded as a teenager- I had absolutely no expenses but clothes, shoes and face/skin products. Sure, I had a minimum wage job, but when you aren’t paying ANYTHING out of that paycheck, you can buy a lot of crap. Now twenty-something me has a mortgage, car payment, RSP contributions, Pension Contributions, Credit Card Payments, Loan Payments, Groceries to buy… Ugh, being a grownup is not all fun and games.

I will never outgrow The Body Shop or Bath & Body Works. There’s something so fun about being able to go into a store, and try out different soaps (foamy ones!) at sinks placed throughout. It’s like a yummy-smelling Wonderland!
