I’ve been a fan of Diane Von Furstenberg dresses since I first discovered they existed. They are classic, timeless and an iconic look at fashion that has lasted over several decades of very different fashion climates. I also really like that the dresses haven’t changed much in terms of the cut, except for the vanity sizing, since the original dresses and that you can sometimes see vintage dresses reselling for just as much (or more, if rare) as the newer dresses. The prints used on those older dresses are now stored in the ”archives” at DVF and it’s a pretty exciting day in many people’s lives when they dig out a vintage print to “re-release”.
I was flipping through my newest issue of InStyle the other day when I came across an add for DVF not about the dresses, but about how they were releasing a line of home accessories like duvet covers in archival prints! I am currently trying to figure out, in my mind at least, what I want to do with my master bedroom so this excited me to absolutely no end.
My favorite DVF print of all time is the twig in green. Not a single clue why, but this aesthetically pleases me to no end. I’m not sure I could pull off a green bedroom (or more importantly convince the man that I share said bedroom with that this was a possibility) but it doesn’t really matter to me, I can still look and love the Green Twig Duvet cover.
There are a couple of other archival patterns that I like as well: The Arrow Maze and the Square Dot.
I think I could actually pull off the Arrow Maze pattern in a room which is otherwise very muted in both color scheme and patterns provided- picture nice darker beige walls (I know, I’ve lost you with the adventurous color selection) and white crown moulding… And then the Arrow maze cover with matching dark brown sheets? Ah…. I like the Batik dot sheets alot too… (I used to have a dress in the Batik print that I had to give away… Still saddens me to this day) If you’re not willing to commit to an entire duvet cover in a DVF print, there are some great throw pillows you can get to add a touch of style to your house- like maybe for me the winning selection is to incorporate the Twigs pattern pillows into my living room rather than trying to mount a full-stage battle to get a green duvet cover.
